AFA Thailand (Anime Festival Asia)

May 30–31, 2026 · Bangkok

Anime Festival Asia (AFA) is Southeast Asia's flagship Japanese pop-culture convention, and AFA Thailand 2026 ran May 30–31 at Hall 8 of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in central Bangkok. AFA built its reputation across the region — with editions in Singapore, Indonesia and beyond — on a strong music-and-stage program, and the Bangkok edition follows that formula closely.

The heart of AFA is its stage. Expect J-pop and anime-song concerts (the "I Love Anisong" brand has long been an AFA signature), idol performances, and stage events running across the weekend, alongside a huge cosplay presence that turns the halls into a rolling photo shoot. Around the main stage you'll find exhibitor and merch halls stocked with figures, apparel and imported goods, an artist alley, game and figure booths, anime screenings, and appearances from Japanese guests, voice actors and creators. Compared to the sprawling, everything-Japanese scope of Japan Expo Thailand, AFA is a more focused, anime-and-music-driven experience — a fan festival at its core.

The venue makes it easy. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center is one of Bangkok's premier event spaces, sitting directly on the MRT subway (its own station) and beside Benjakitti Park, a short ride from the Sukhumvit hotel and dining district. Bangkok is one of the most affordable and well-connected cities in Asia to fly into, which is part of why AFA's regional fanbase travels in for it.

If you're planning around a future edition, a few tips carry over: tickets are usually sold in tiers (single-day, weekend, and premium packages with better concert seating and perks), and the concert-focused premium passes sell out first, so decide early if the music is your priority. Bring cash for the merch and food stalls, a battery pack for the long days, and comfortable shoes. Build in time for Bangkok itself — the convention center is walkable to Benjakitti Park and a quick MRT hop from the city's street food, markets and rooftop bars. Check the official AFA site for future Thailand dates and the concert line-up.
