Magic Spotlight Series: London 2026

May 8–10, 2026 · London

The Magic Spotlight Series: London is a smaller, community-driven alternative to a full MagicCon, held over a May weekend in the heart of one of the world's great hobby-gaming cities. Where MagicCons are sprawling festivals, Spotlight events are more focused and intimate — a chance to see high-level competitive play up close, with an emphasis on grassroots formats like Cube draft and community events rather than a giant vendor hall.

That focus is the appeal. The scale is friendlier for first-timers: shorter lines, easier access to the action, and a welcoming local scene that's happy to teach and to trade. You'll find competitive events and side tournaments, casual and Commander play, and the kind of relaxed, players-first atmosphere that big conventions can lose. It's a great weekend for anyone who wants to level up their game, meet the London Magic community, and play a lot of Magic without the crowds of a headline MagicCon.

London itself is the other half of the draw. The city has one of the densest concentrations of tabletop and trading-card shops anywhere — Orc's Nest near Covent Garden, Dark Sphere, and others are all within easy reach — so it's easy to build a full geek weekend around the event, hitting stores, board-game cafés and pubs before or after play. Getting around is simple: London's Underground and buses connect everything, and a contactless card or phone is all you need to tap in and out.

Because Spotlight events are more compact than MagicCons, they're a low-pressure, affordable way to experience competitive Magic in person, and a perfect excuse to spend a few days in London. Check the official schedule on Magic.gg for the exact venue, ticketing and format details, plan your travel around securing entry first, and leave time to explore the city's shops and sights while you're there. If you're visiting from abroad, note that the UK uses its own three-pin plugs and drives on the left — but you won't need a car; everything you want is a Tube ride apart.
