MagicCon: Las Vegas 2027

MagicCon is the official convention series for Magic: The Gathering, run by publisher Wizards of the Coast, and MagicCon: Las Vegas returns August 27–29, 2027. Las Vegas has become one of the series' marquee US stops — a sprawling, high-energy weekend that suits a game built on big crowds, big tournaments and big spectacle — and it anchors the late-summer stretch of the 2027 Magic calendar.

Across three days you'll get the complete MagicCon. At the top is premier competitive play, including Pro Tour–level tournaments with the world's best on the main stage, but the scale of Vegas is really felt in everything around it: vast open-play halls for Commander, drafting and pick-up games running at all hours; a deep slate of side events and satellite tournaments with prizes of their own; a large artist alley with signings and original art; cosplay; panels and previews of upcoming sets; and an enormous marketplace of singles, sealed product and collectibles. Exclusive promo cards, giveaways and on-site-only offerings are a big part of the draw, and Vegas editions tend to be among the largest-attended of the year. Formats span Standard, the eternal formats and endless Commander, and the casual halls stay busy around the clock, so there is always a game to join no matter your style or the hour.

At time of writing Wizards had not formally confirmed the 2027 venue — the announcement directs attendees to mtgfestivals.com — though recent Las Vegas MagicCons have been held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, its expected home. Las Vegas is one of the easiest cities in the world to reach and to stay in, with Harry Reid International Airport minutes from the Strip and an effectively unlimited supply of hotel rooms at every price point.

For a traveling player, Vegas needs little selling: the convention sits amid the Strip's restaurants, shows and nightlife, and it's a springboard for the surrounding desert — the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon and Death Valley are all within reach for a pre- or post-convention side trip. Late August is very hot, often well over 100°F, so plan for the desert heat and enjoy the air-conditioned halls.

Badges sell in tiers, and premium options with early entry and extras sell out first, so buy ahead once sales open.
